Gorilla Trekking Cost
The cost of gorilla trekking can vary depending on several factors, including the location of the
trek, the specific tour operator, and the time of year. The two main countries where gorilla
trekking is popular are Rwanda and Uganda. Here are some general cost estimates for gorilla
trekking:
Rwanda:
In Rwanda, gorilla trekking takes place in Volcanoes National Park. As of my knowledge cutoff
in September 2021, the permit fee for gorilla trekking in Rwanda was $1,500 per person. This
permit allows you to spend one hour with a gorilla family. However, please note that prices can
change over time, so it;s essential to check with the Rwanda Development Board or a trusted tour
operator for the most up-to-date information.
Uganda:
In Uganda, gorilla trekking is conducted in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Mgahinga
Gorilla National Park. As of September 2021, the permit fee for gorilla trekking in Uganda was
$800 per person for foreign non-residents, $600 for foreign residents, and $70 for East African
citizens. These permits also allow you to spend one hour with gorillas. Again, it's crucial to
verify the current prices with the Uganda Wildlife Authority or a reputable tour operator.
It;s worth noting that the permit fee is just one component of the overall cost. Other expenses
may include transportation, accommodation, meals, and any additional activities or services
provided by the tour operator. These costs can vary depending on your preferences and the level
of comfort you desire.
Additionally, please keep in mind that gorilla trekking permits are limited, and it's advisable to
book well in advance, especially during peak seasons, to secure your spot.
Remember to check for the most recent information and prices from authorized sources or tour
operators, as the costs mentioned here are based on the information available up until September
