NYEGE NYEGA FESTIVAL 2022

Nyege Nyege festival is one of the most and main adventure music festivals in Africa. It has been off for the past two years because of the lockdown and the pandemic.

The 2022 Nyege Nyege festival ran from 15th to 18th September at the Itanda falls in Jinja city. The co-founder of the festival is Derek Debru who made a statement that the celebrations were going to be historical with fresh experiences.

The festival had very many oppositions from different people but the festival attracted many international clients and over 300 performers whole wide showcasing different cultures and music. The festival was founded due to the love and pliability of music and there is no doubt that the festival has been shining ever since its introduction in Uganda.

Itanda falls the venue for nyege nyege festival

Nyege Nyege festival took 3 days and it was an addition to the Itanda tour where visitors get the love of music and nature. Visitors to the falls can also get the chance to have an adrenaline adventure of white water rafting, jet boating, kayaking, bungee jumping, Uganda safaris, sailing, birding, biking, fishing, boat cruise, and more.

Itanda falls has a roaring waterfall that is located on the Nile which is the longest river in the world. On the Nile, there are beautiful Islands that visitors can use for taking photos and during the Nyege Nyege festival, clients visit the falls for other activities there.

Other activities in addition to the Nyege Nyege festival

Touring the Itanda falls with the wildlife species, visitors can also enjoy Gorilla trekking in Bwindi impenetrable National park and Mgahinga National Park which is home to the world’s 1063 mountain Gorillas and 21 habituated Gorilla families in Uganda.

Bwindi impenetrable national park and Mgahinga national park are forest parks found in southwestern Uganda with the key attraction being the mountain Gorillas in the wild.

Tourists can also go for game viewing in the savanna parks where they can go meet the big five mammals and the other animals which can be found in Kidepo valley national park found in the Northeastern part of Uganda.

Murchison Falls National Park which is the largest park and home to the mighty powerful waterfall which is Murchison falls making it the best place to visit for the tree climbing lions in Queen Elizabeth National Parks. Tourists who have tight schedules can visit Lake Mburo national park which is nearest to Kampala.

For the best Chimpanzee and Primate watching, the best places to go to are Kibale National Park, Kalinzu forest, Budongo forest, Kyambura Gorge, and Toro-Semliki Wildlife Reserve with sightings of baboons, colobus monkeys in the wild.

During the time of the Nyege Nyege festival, there were hotels from Jinja city that provided luxurious facilities to the clients and there was also the Nyege Nyege resort which was the first of its kind in Uganda.

What to pack for the festivals

It is always advisable to pack waterproof jackets in case of rain because the weather can change at any time.

Malaria tablets are recommended during the travel to Uganda and also to pack common medical supplies.

Insect repellent and sunscreen which is useful for the outdoor activities that you will be doing in Uganda.

Make sure you pack comfortable long-sleeved clothes and warm clothes plus good footwear.

Climate of Uganda

Uganda has the best temperatures all throughout the year and visitors don’t have to worry about the high temperatures which are around 21 degrees Celsius to 25 degrees Celsius during the day and at night at 16 degrees Celsius and this slightly depends on the area of visit. Temperatures can also drop in mountainous areas.
